The first production is located in the town of Jaisalmer in the heart of the Thar Desert. There are many similar towns in India, but what sets Jaisalmer apart is its leather production. The town has been associated with the manufacture of leather accessories since time immemorial and every family has at least one skilled leatherworker. One of them is Dennis.
By 2022, Jodhpur, a place called the blue city, has been added to the map of Bagind production. Although Jodhpur is not one of the typical places known for leather production, it was here that we found a new manufacturer, Deepesh, and our product portfolio grew with new designs and processing techniques.
The products we handcraft for you in India are made from goatskin. Goats in India are mainly raised for meat, and the skin is a by-product that would likely become waste without our efforts. Leather products have served people since forever and thankfully we are going back to our roots and learning to appreciate the magic of quality handmade from natural materials again.
Leather, like any other natural material, is constantly working. It is therefore important to care for it properly. In our range you will find everything you need for proper care. There is Bio Cleaner to remove dirt and quality Beeswax to keep the leather beautiful and supple. For even better protection against the weather, we also recommend using our Impregnation. We have written more for you in the Care section. With natural shades, you should also take into account that their typically brown colour patinates and ages over time.
Ubiquitous people, motorbikes, rickshaws, cows, dogs and other motorbikes. Does this sound like a scene from a bad movie to you? What a noisy and vibrant reality of life in India. But in this apparent chaos, everything works like clockwork, including public transport (but this is where watches become useless). Indian culture is diverse and full of traditions that have confused plenty of Europeans.
The history of the town dates back to the 12th century when the dominant fort of the same name was built. The entire city is built on a hill of yellow sandstone, which is why the city is called "golden". Today, the city is home to around 60,000 people and features ornate merchant villas and rows of temples. It is a popular destination for tourists who, in addition to sightseeing and shopping, also enjoy a desert safari.
The origin of Jodhpur dates back to the late 15th century. Its strategic position on the road linking Delhi and Gujarat was responsible for the city's prosperity. Today, it is home to more than a million Indians. It has earned the nickname ''blue city'' due to the blue painted buildings that can be seen throughout the old part of the city. In addition, Jodhpur is known for its furniture industry, handicrafts, carpets and marble goods.
